Ministry Wants Captive Miners to Give Extra Coal to CIL
The Union Coal Ministry has urged that the disposal of surplus coal from captive coal mines must be in accordance with the prevailing policy of the Government of India. According to the policy, surplus coal from a captive mine may be handed over to the nearest subsidiary of Coal India (CIL). The issue of disposing surplus coal may arise when one or more co-allocates of a captive coal mine fail to develop associated captive end-use plants. The centre said the surplus coal could be either handed over to the nearest CIL subsidiary or -'to any person designated by it-' at a transfer price to be determined by the government.
