Head of the best performing state in power reforms
Mohammed Suleman is an IAS Officer of the 1989 batch. Currently, Suleman is serving as Secretary, Energy Department, GoMP. Suleman has been in charge of various key administrative positions, including MD, MPRDC and Collector of Seoni, Balaghat and Indore. He has rich experience of diverse administrative functions. Suleman is on the board of the company from April 26, 2010. He has been instrumental in reforming the power sector in MP over the last two years. It is under his vision that MP is close to becoming a power surplus State. Under his guidance, MP is the only State in India providing 24 hours of electricity to rural areas. He provides an insight into development of power sector in the State. From January 2013, MP has undertaken Atal Jyoti Abhiyaan which has resulted in reforming the entire power sector. Transmission losses in the State of MP (at 3.51 per cent) are the lowest in the country. Also the State has witnessed a reduction in distribution losses from 36.5 per cent to 27 per cent in one year. With generation capacity of more than 14 gw, MP has ensured reduction in energy deficit from 22 per cent in January 13 to 0.2 per cent in April 2013. Suleman has played a pivotal role in effecting and driving such a transformation in the state power sector.
