East Central Railways headquarters gets solar power grid
A newly built 10.4 kw solar power grid was inaugurated at the East Central Railway's (ECR’s) headquarters at Hajipur, near Patna in Bihar. It is the second solar power system installed at the ECR headquarters to meet the needs of its administrative building, said ECR GM Madhuresh Kumar who inaugurated the grid on June 12. Solar power system was the best option these days. It would help the railways save energy costs and escape the problems caused by frequent power cuts at Hajipur. The new system is also environment friendly, he said.
The solar grid connected power system has the capacity to supply 50 units power to the administrative block of the ECR. Prior to this, the railways had installed a solar power system of the same capacity at the old building of ECR headquarters, he said.
