Allot coal block | State to Centre

In a meeting with Union minister of state for power Piyush Goyal in New Delhi, Kerala power minister Kadakampally Surendran has requested the Centre to allocate a new coal block to the state. The demand was raised since the Baitarani coal block, allotted to Kerala during the UPA rule, was de-allocated recently. Kadakampally also appealed to the Union power ministry to take steps to ink a long-term agreement with international oil companies for importing natural gas at around $5 per unit. The severe fluctuation in the price of natural gas was jeopardising Kerala´s plans to explore the options for setting up gas based power stations, he said.
