Tata Power has generated 49.83 million units (mus) of solar power and 796 mus of wind power from its various projects in India, until March 31, 2013. As part of its sustainability initiative, the company is committed to generating 20-25 per cent of its total generation capacity from clean energy sources.
Tata Power plans to add 30-50 mw of solar power and 150-200 mw of wind energy in India every year. Its investment in solar and wind energy so far is Rs 2,393 crore, according to a statement released in Ahmedabad.
Tata Power’s generation capacity through clean sources in India such as hydro, wind and solar, now stands at 873 mw.
Tata Power is a leading solar power producer with a total operational capacity of 28 mw. This includes 25 mw at Mithapur in Gujarat, 3 mw at Mulshiin in Maharashtra, and some rooftop solar installations, Anil Sardana, Managing Director of Tata Power, said.
