Govt decision on coal blocks cost NTPC 2 years
NTPC lost two years on developing two major captive coal mines - Kerandari and Chattibariatu - due to the Government's decision to de-allocate and then re-allot the blocks, the State-run generation utility has said. Despite the adverse law and order situation prevailing at project sites, NTPC took timely action to develop these coal blocks, obtained all approvals and commenced disbursement of compensation to the displaced, the company said. The company said the mines allotted to the company are linked to new projects and diversion of output from these mines to rescue stranded private power projects would jeopardise its future plans. NTPC has 22,000 MW capacity under construction.
