Philips Lighting accelerates sustainability initiatives in India

Philips Lighting has accelerated its sustainability initiatives in India with the launch of its CFL and tube light safe disposal program. An extension of the company’s global sustainability program ‘Brighter Lives, Better World’, this program aims to educate consumers in India about responsible waste management through safe disposal of lighting products that contain mercury. Talking about the initiative, Harshavardhan Chitale, Vice Chairman and Managing Director, Philips Lighting India said, “Philips Lighting fully supports and endorses the Indian Government’s Swachh Bharat program and we are delighted to accelerate our sustainability initiatives in India with this program. As a global leader in lighting, we want to create awareness about responsible and safe disposal of lighting products that contain mercury. Using our specially designed disposal bags, consumers can now safely dispose-off their used CFL bulbs and tube lights at their nearest Philips Lighting retailer and contribute towards creating a sustainable environment.” Philips Lighting’s safe disposal program is being launched across India and these specially designed disposal bags will be available at several Philips Lighting Bandhan retailers in the country over the next few months.
