CEA-ICAI’s ‘3rd National Workshop on Electrical Safety’

The use of electricity is an integral part of our lives and it is important to harness it safely and efficiently. There are many lives lost each year as a result of electrical-related incidents and fires. A number of electrical fatalities and injuries that occur each year can be overcome through understanding of safe electrical practices. Due to the complexity of regulatory requirements, many safety professionals may not be fully equipped to handle the task.
International Copper Association India (ICA India) in association with Central Electricity Authority (CEA) as a part of its seminars and workshops on Electrical Safety across India, conducted 3rd National workshop on ‘Electrical Safety’ in Delhi. The workshop aimed to outline the regulations to ensure that electrical installation safety standards are followed properly.
The workshop highlighted the necessity of sharing information and knowledge on international experience and inclusion of chartered electrical engineers amongst industry stakeholders. Elaborating on the subject Sanjeev Ranjan, Managing Director, ICA India said, “We are doing several activities to build awareness on electrical safety – from training of electricians (more than 16,000 per year) in tier 1 & 2 cities, we now have more than 1 lakh validated and verified trained electricians working with state CEI.”
