CBI probe in 33 out of total 53 coal scam cases pending | Govt
CBI has registered a total of 53 cases related to the coal scam in which blocks were allegedly distributed in violation of policies with the probe in 33 cases still pending. The agency had registered three preliminary inquiries in the matter covering allocations during 2006-09, during 1993-2005 and through Government dispensation route, Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions Jitendra Singh said. In response to a question, Singh said all the preliminary inquiries have been concluded. He said the agency has registered 33 cases against 34 companies arising from PE looking into allegations of irregularities in the allocations of coal blocks during 2006-09 to 168 companies.
