Redeeming Start

The board of directors of Toshiba Corporation have appointed Satoshi Tsunakawa, Representative Executive Officer and Corporate Senior Executive Vice President of Toshiba, as Representative Executive Officer, President and CEO of the Company - a move that it hopes will draw a line under a damaging accounting scandal. Tsunakawa will succeed Masashi Muromachi, following the ordinary general meeting of the shareholders in late June 2016.
The decision was made on the basis that a series of business restructuring initiatives is on track, and that the company should move forward to focus on growth with a new management team.
´My biggest task would be to rebuild trust from stakeholders and transform the company under our new action plans. I would place the most immediate priority on beefing up the capital base,´ Tsunakawa told a press conference.
