India´s first 700 MW reactor to have trial run
The trial run of India's first 700 MW pressurised heavy water reactor (PHWR) coming up at Kakrapar is expected to take place in mid-2017. According to BC Pathak, Executive Director (Projects), NPCIL, construction of two 700 MW PHW Rs.at KAPS is at an advanced stage. The commissioning activities of the first unit has begun. The project cost for the two 700 MW units is around Rs.11,500 crore, Vineet Kumar, Station Director of the two units (3 and 4 at KAPS) said.
