Tata Power synchronises Unit 2 of Maithon project
Tata Power announced the successful synchronisation of its second unit of 525 MW (Unit 2) of its Maithon mega power project in Dhanbad, Jharkhand. The first Unit of 525 MW (Unit 1) was commissioned in September 2011. Anil Sardana, MD, Tata Power, said, “Synchronisation of Maithon 525 MW Unit 2 is a significant milestone. With this development, Tata Power’s gross generation capacity has touched 5,297 MW reaffirming its contribution as the largest integrated power company in India."
Also, Tata Power, India’s largest integrated private power utility’s wholly-owned subsidiary, Coastal Gujarat Power (CGPL), which is setting up India’s first ultra mega power project (UMPP) in Mundra, Gujarat, announced the commissioning of the country’s first 800 MW sized super-critical Unit 1. Work on Units 2, 3, 4 and 5 of the project are on track.
