India's biggest solar plant to come up in MP
India's biggest solar power plant to generate 130 mw electricity would be set up in Neemuch in Madhya Pradesh. The ambitious project cleared by departmental advisory committee of the State department New and Renewable Energy, according to a press release in Bhopal on February 26. 1,000 acre land has been earmarked for the plant in Neemuch district.
Renewable energy accounts for just five per cent in total energy generation in Madhya Pradesh. At present, work is underway for 311 mw solar power projects in the state. New and Renewable Energy department officials said that as much as 460 mw solar power will be generated by March 2014 and they are targeting 2,500 mw solar power generation in the state in next two years.
Large-scale generation will increase renewal energy generation's share in total energy generation that will go up from 5 per cent to 19 per cent.
