Government plans global bids for Rs.20,000 crore power projects
The government plans to invite global bids for a dozen interstate transmission projects worth over Rs 20,000 crore in the next two months to connect power generation projects in states including Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu. The standing committee for power system planning has cleared the projects and just a nod from the empowered committee on transmission is awaited. The government expects companies such as Power Grid Corp of India, Sterlite Industries, L&T Infra, Power Grid Corp of India and Tata Projects to evince interest in the projects.
