Govt issues tender for coal gasification project
Government has invited bids from global players for establishment of coal gasification plant in Talcher, Odisha and the bids would be opened in January 2013. Coal gasification and gas purification plant would be undertaken by selected bidder on build own operate (BOO) basis.
Meanwhile, it is learnt that the joint venture of Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilisers (RCF), Coal India (CIL) and Fertiliser Corporation of India (FCI) is giving momentum to the revive the fertiliser plants in Talcher.
Following a go ahead given by the Board for Industrial & Financial Reconstruction for revival of closed urea units at Talcher, the Rs 8,000 crore project through joint venture was worked out. The objective to revive the closed urea units of FCIL and Hindustan Fertilizer Corporation (HFCL) is now going to be accomplished.
The JV project comprises coal gasification based ammonnia synthesis gas, 2,700 mn tpd of ammonia synthesis unit including storage and dispatch, 3,850 mn tpd of urea plant including bagging and despatch, 850 mn tpd nitric acid plant and 1,000 mn tpd ammonium nitrate plant.
The revival process would also help the country to bridge the gap between demand and domestic production of urea.
