Greater Noida to get district's 2nd solar plant

The Noida and Greater Noida authorities have decided to jointly construct a 1 mw solar power plant in GautamBudhNagar district. Senior officials of both the authorities held a meeting in Noida recently and have decided to construct the solar plant in Greater Noida.
Officials said that Noida Power Company (NPCL), the power distribution company of Greater Noida, will enter into a tripartite MoU with both the authorities to purchase electricity produced at the plant.
Green energy purchased by NPCL will help meet its target of procuring renewable energy. The project will be constructed at a cost of Rs 18.5 crore, which will be borne by Noida Authority. Greater Noida Authority will provide the land required for setting up the plant. After construction, the solar plant will be handed over to NPCL for running and maintenance. Greater Noida Authority officials said that land has already been identified for the project.
Land measuring 4.5 acres has been demarcated in Sector Pi-4 of Greater Noida. A consultant would soon be appointed to finalize the project report following which construction would begin. After completion of the project, the solar plant would be the second renewable energy project to be commissioned in Gautam Budh Nagar district.
