CIALs solar power model goes global
By virtue of being the first solar powered airport in the world, the Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL) is all set to take part in this year´s UN Framework Convention on Climate Change´s (UNFCCC) Conference of Parties (COP-21) or the 2015 Paris Climate Summit, to be held in December.
Nearly 196 countries are expected to participate in the meet and PM Modi has evinced interest in presenting the CIAL model in the conference to drive home the message of renewable energy. Besides, the Centre is also exploring ways to replicate the CIAL model solar power generation in at least 30 airports in the country.
The CIAL has received queries from Liberia, Ghana, and Vietnam to study the project and some of them have also sought technical help to set up similar projects in their country, said the airport officials.
