Ramesh Kymal is the Chairman & Managing Director of Gamesa Wind Turbines Private Limited., a wholly owned subsidy of the € 2.8 billon Gamesa Group, Spain. Gamesa established its presence in India in the year 2009. Since then Kymal has piloted the company´s growth successfully by commissioning more than 1000 MW of wind power projects across the country and providing employment to over 850 people. He has been instrumental in establishing a world class nacelle manufacturing facility at Mamandur, near Chennai, Tamil Nadu, blade manufacturing unit at Halol, Gujarat & a state-of-the-art Integrated Service & monitoring centre at Redhills, Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Kymal is a Mechanical Engineer with specialisation in operations research, statistical quality control and has pursued higher studies at INSEAD, Fontainebleau, France. He has served for over 25 years in various capacities across blue chip companies in both India and Europe.
He holds many key positions in Wind Power Associations in pursuit of promoting the sector and investment opportunities. He was the Chairman of the Indian Wind Turbine Manufacturers Association (IWTMA) from 2011-2014. He is also the chairman of the Renewable Energy Council of CII - Sohrabji Godrej Green Business Centre since 2003, maintaining his larger commitment to make India a global leader in renewable energy by facilitating formulation of attractive policies at both State and Central level and creating innovative financing mechanisms.
