CIL in talks with Bangladesh for coal exploration
In order to explore coal mines as well as to set up new projects, Coal India (CIL) has initiated talks with Barapukuria Coal Mining Company (BCMC). After visiting BCMC, a subsidiary of the Bangladesh government-owned Petrobangla, CIL asked its top executives to send some geological data. However, an official states that CIL was not interested in participating in a tender to bag an exploration contract and would be interested only if BCMC sings up with Coal India on a nomination basis. At a ministerial level, talks for an Indo-Bangladesh collaboration om coal exploration and mining at the Barapukuria, Khalashpir and Jamalganj areas in Bangladesh was initiated.
