REpower Systems wins 151 MW in worldwide orders
REpower Systems announced accumulative orders of 151 MW across Europe and North America over a three month period, excluding orders announced separately. These cover various firm orders secured between October 2011 and January 2012 across Austria, Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, UK and the USA. It also concluded a contract with an East Coast US wind power developer for the delivery of 73 wind turbines for a project in Oklahoma in the United States. The company also signed deals for a total of 35 MW to supply wind turbines to two England-based companies for their wind farm projects. The North American subsidiary of Suzlon Group announced the sale of 57 Suzlon S97-2.1 MW wind turbines for a large wind energy project located in the western United States. According to estimates by the American Wind Energy Association, a 120 MW project could deliver enough green energy to power up to 36,000 homes. Suzlon also announced a Memorandum of Understanding with Andhra Pradesh for the development of wind capacity in the state totalling 3,000 MW between 2012 and 2016, creating potential investments of up to Rs 18,000 crore.
