AP asks NBPPL to speed up plant equipment project
NTPC-BHEL Power Project (NBPPL), a joint venture between State-run BHEL and NTPC, is expected to speed up its power plant equipment project in Andhra Pradesh.
According to a press release from the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister's office, the CM has asked officials of the joint venture to launch the second phase of the project without any delay.
The release said that the NBPPL's complex's compound wall, internal roads and administrative building were completed, while the corporate office at Noida, which has been shifted to Mannavaram in AP has begun functioning. It may be recalled that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh laid the foundation stone for the project in September 2010 at Mannavaram in Chitoor district.
The project is expected to come up in two phases, the release said. According to NBPPL officials, 50 per cent of the main functional building work and a transit accommodation office has been completed. The CM has asked the departments concerned to provide roads, power and water to the project.
Senior state government officials also participated in the project review meeting today, it added.
