Tata to add 150-200 mw wind energy capacity every year
Tata Power Managing Director Anil Sardana has stated that the company is looking to strength its renewables portfolio and plans to add 150-200 mw wind energy and 30-50 mw solar power generation capacities every year in India. Tata Power's total investment in solar and wind energy so far is Rs 2,393 crore, he said in a statement.
Tata Power's current domestic power generation capacity from clean sources such as hydro, wind and solar is 873 mw. The installed capacity in the wind energy space is 397 mw with projects spread across Maharashtra, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Rajasthan. Besides, Tata Power is developing a 240 mw geothermal project in Indonesia along with consortium partners -- Origin Energy, Australia and PT Supraco, Indonesia.
In South Africa, the company's joint venture with Exxaro has been shortlisted as a preferred bidder for two wind projects having a total generation capacity of 234 mw.
