Mitsubishi named preferred bidder for UK off-shore transmission asset

Mitsubishi Corporation (MC) has been selected as the preferred bidder for a new off-shore electricity transmission link asset, called Burbo Bank Extension Offshore Wind Farm. MC's fifth such project in the UK, it is situated approximately 25 km off the country's north-western coast and consists of one each of sub-sea cable, land cable, off-shore sub-station and on-shore sub-station. It has a transmission capacity of up to 258 MW and is valued at £180 million (approx. ¥26 billion).

MC will execute this for a 20-year period starting around 2017-end, following successful acquisition of the asset and the granting of an Offshore Transmission Owner (OFTO) license by the UK's Office of Gas and Electricity Markets (Ofgem).
