BGR starts trial run of its Mettur thermal project
The 600 mw thermal power project's trial run has been started by the BGR Energy at Mettur for the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board. The plant achieved full load of 608 mw in the trial run on October 11. This marks a significant milestone for the Rs 3,100-crore project, which will be fully commissioned in two-four months. This is BGR Energy’s first project for the utility.
BGR Energy is a Chennai-based listed company, which executes engineering, procurement and construction and balance of plant contracts for State power utilities and private sector power producers.
This is also one of the key ongoing State sector power projects that the Tamil Nadu Government has announced would go online in over the next year and alleviate the prevailing power shortage in the State.
