Gurgaon DPT tells discom to cut power to illegal houses
The Gurgaon District Town Planning (DTP) Department has asked the district administration to ensure that there should be no electricity connection to the houses constructed without approval of the building plan. The DTP has written a letter to the deputy commissioner, PC Meena, saying that power supply provided by the Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitaran Nigam (DHBVN) to unauthorised constructions help people dig borewells and develop illegal colonies.
Anil Dabas, district town planner (enforcement) said that they have asked the DHBVN engineer to cut electricity connections at two houses in Sardana as the buildings were unauthorised. But the engineers did not disconnect the line, he said.
He said since people get electricity connections easily, they dig borewells and start construction. He said that their department dismantled two borewells at Sardana but could not disconnect electricity connections since that does not come in their department's purview, added Dabas.
