MoEF waives public hearing for certain coal projects
The union ministry of environment has simplified the procedure to be followed by developers of existing coal mining projects for one-time capacity expansion of up to 25 per cent. Now, the developers of existing coal projects need not conduct public hearing for acquiring an environmental clearance for one-time capacity expansion of up to 25 per cent. The public hearing would be exempted in cases where prrior environmental clearance and have already undergone the process of public hearing for getting the green approvals. This was conveyed by the Ministry of Forest and Environment (MoEF) to the coal ministry through an office memorandum.
