Madras Atomic Power Station unit II trips

Madras Atomic Power Station (MAPS) at Chennai tripped on April 15 forcing authorities to cold shutdown the reactor. The Unit-2 of Madras Atomic Power Station was operating at 110 mwe. At about 7.20 am the Unit had tripped due to fault in the generator transformer high voltage bushing.

Hence, the reactor was brought to cold shutdown state, MAPS Station Director TJ Kotteeswaran said. The reason for the fault was being investigated, he said in a statement , adding unit I was operating normally at 170 mwe.
