<span style="font-weight: bold;">Gopal Singh named temporary Chairman at CIL</span><br /> Gopal Singh, the chairman of Coal India subsidiary Central Coalfields has been made the temporary chairman of Coal India Ltd (CIL). Singh would continue to be the temporary Chairman till the government finds a full time candidate for the post. In a notice to the company, the coal ministry said Gopal Singh is the chairman with immediate effect and will remain Chairman until a regular appointment is made. <p></p> <p>At the interview for selection of a Coal India chairman, conducted by Public Enterprise Selection Board, six candidates along with Gopal Singh were interviewed. This panel was later scrapped by PESB and it said the board did not find any candidate suitable for the post and recommended that the government may choose an appropriate course of further action for selection. Former Chairman of Coal India, Sutirtha Bhattacharya, retired on August 31. Gopal Singh also holds temporary charge of the chairman of Bharat Coking Coal (BCCL), another CIL subsidiary.</p>
