Highest Growth Generation Company in Thermal in Public Sector - NTPC

Established to accelerate power development in the country, NTPC is one of India's largest energy conglomerates with roots tracing back to 1975. Since then it has forayed into fossil fuels into hydro, nuclear and renewable energy sources. The corporation has diversified into the fields of consultancy, power trading, training of power professionals, rural electrification, ash utilisation and coal mining as well. It became a Maharatna company in May 2010, one of the only four companies to be awarded this status. The company's total installed capacity is 51,635 MW. During financial year 2016-17, the NTPC Group contributed 24 per cent of total electricity generated in India with 16 per cent share of the country's total installed capacity as on March 31, 2017. It plans to raise the share of non-fossil based capacity to 30 per cent by 2032, by when it has a vision of becoming a 130-GW company. <p></p> <p> <span style="font-weight: bold;">Operational Highlights</span><br /> </p> <ul> <li>Gross generation of 250.314 BUs (stand-alone) as against 241.975 BUs in the previous year.</li> <li>NTPC Group gross generation was 276.774 BUs registering a growth of 5.07 per cent.</li> <li>Gross generation contributed by coal stations was 237.964 BUs registering a growth of 3.18 per cent.</li> <li>Plant Load Factor (PLF) of NTPC 's coal stations was 78.59 per cent against national average of 59.88 per cent.</li> <li>In terms of PLF, top three coal stations in the country belong to NTPC. These stations are Talcher Thermal , Sipat and Korba.</li> <li>Six coal stations of NTPC were among the top ten performing stations with PLF of over 85 per cent.</li></ul> <p> <span style="font-weight: bold;">Capital Expenditure </span><br /> </p> <ul> <li>Achieved a record CAPEX of Rs.28, 252. 34 crore (stand-alone) during financial year 2016-17. Achieved Group CAPEX of Rs.33,991.51 crore during financial year 2016-17.</li> <li>For the financial year 2017-18, the CAPEX outlay of NTPC (stand-alone) is Rs.28,000 crore, including investment of Rs.5,000 crore in joint ventures and subsidiary companies.</li></ul>
