Kerala to buy 15 lakh power meters to replace faulty ones

The Kerala State Electricity Board is to procure 15 lakh power meters to replace the defective ones in the state. The defective meters are said to be bringing heavy revenue loss to the Board. The State Power Minister Aryadan Muhammed issued the orders at a meeting held in Thiruvananthapuram to review the functioning of the Board.

The State's aim is to replace 12 lakh faulty meters at one go. while the rest will be utilised for meeting future needs. The Minister warned that stringent action would be taken against lapses in switching off streetlights during daytime. Personnel like assistant engineers and assistant executive engineers should conduct daily inspections to detect such cases, the Minister said.
