Sterlite Power doubles transmission capacity of key corridors in Varanasi
Sterlite Power has doubled the transmission lines on the critical Varanasi city corridors, two months ahead of its completion schedule. The uprated transmission line on the Gajokhar-Manduadih S/C and Varanasi Cantt-LILO point D/C will transfer 1600 ampere, up from 700 ampere earlier, resulting in a two-fold increase. Along with the residents of the region, Diesel Locomotive Works (DLW) will benefit from the project.
“The project was completed in just 107 days of the shutdown as opposed to 180 days as per the contract. The project would positively impact the lives of nearly 0.2 million people residing in the region. Our focus was to mitigate grid congestion by augmenting power transfer capacity, improve line efficiency and enhance system reliability. With the completion of this project, we have upgraded more than 2,500 cKM of transmission lines in the country across 25 corridors,” said Manish Agarwal, Chief Executive Officer, Sterlite Power-Solutions Business.
