Reliance Power Ltd has informed BSE that Boiler Light-up has been achieved in respect of the fourth 660MW unit of the 3,960 MW (6X660 MW) Sasan Ultra Mega Power Plant (UMPP) being developed by Sasan Power Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of the company. The first 660 MW unit of the Sasan UMPP was commissioned in March 2013 and the second unit in Jan 2014. Coal Ministry seeks Cabinet nod for land transfer to Reliance Power

The Coal Ministry will seek Cabinet nod for transferring Government land to Reliance Power. The nod is needed to transfer the land held by Government-owned Northern Coalfields Ltd (NCL) in Madhya Pradesh to RPower´s Sasan ultra mega power project (UMPP). Notices served on 9 firms for coal block development failure

The coal ministry served show-cause notices to Reliance Power, Essar and Hindalco for failing to develop the Chhatrasal and Mahan coal blocks in a time-bound manner. In show-cause notices served to nine companies including Essar Power and Hindalco Industries for Mahan block and Sasan Power Limited for Chhatrasal block (allotted in 2006) in Madhya Pradesh, the ministry has asked them to explain the delay in developing their respective blocks.
