EVs: A Techno-Commercial Analysis
Electric Vehicles (EVs) offer a promising technology pathway for cutting down oil use and carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions on a per-kilometre basis. EVs can achieve 50 g of CO2 emission per kilometre compared to the conventional, internal combustion engine (ICE) cars, which emit between 100 and 150 g of CO2 per kilometre.

Dept to start replacing power meters with digital ones from next month
Power Minister Pandurang Madkaikar has said that the work to replace 3 lakh analogue electricity meters to digital will begin by next month for which the work has already been tendered. Madkaikar said, “There are around 60,000 analogue electricity meters which are faulty and because of this the department could not bill the consumers according to their electricity consumption.”
Biswajit envisages 4.5 lakh prepaid meters activation
Stating that earnest efforts will be put in to increase installation of transformer in every locality to ensure adequate power supply in the State, Power Minister Th Biswajit divulged that a target has been set to activate 4.5 lakh prepaid meters. Biswajit said that naked electric wires that are still used in the localities would be replaced to avoid any eventuality including electrocution.
Power Minister wants states to cut discom losses
Union Power and Renewable Energy Minister RK Singh has asked all states to bid out loss-making areas of electricity distribution companies (discoms) to frachisees. The minister has sent letters to power ministers of states seeking immediate actions to cut down on financial losses of distribution companies.
