Installed Generation Capacity Sufficient to Meet Electricity Demand
The installed electricity generation capacity in the country was around 364,960 MW on October 31, which is sufficient to meet the electricity demand in the country. The gap between demand and supply of power up to October during the current fiscal in terms of energy and peak is less than 1 per cent, stated Raj Kumar Singh, Minister of Power and New & Renewable Energy.

Power intake to increase by 4 times by 2030
The countrys electricity consumption will increase four times from about 1.1 trillion units to 4 trillion units by 2030, Union Power Minister Piyush Goyal said. Speaking at a conference on The Future of Electricity, Goyal said, Despite massive roll-out of energy efficient schemes, we still see a possible 10 per cent jump in the electricity growth annually for the next 15 or 16 years.

More gas supply will enable Bawana Power Plant to become fully operational and enable it to produce 1200 MW of power, instead of the 200 MW it is producing now, and that will make Delhi self-sufficient in power, said Satyendra Jain, Power Minister, Government of NCT of Delhi.
