Goyal tells WCL to supply ample coal to Mahagenco

Western Coalfields (WCL) has been instructed by Piyush Goyal, Coal and Railway Minister, to supply ample and good quality coal to Mahagenco with sufficient rakes for supplying coal to the state’s power generation company.

Koradi, Khaparkheda plants losing crores

The Koradi and Khaparkheda Thermal Power Stations paid a whopping Rs 28 crore while the Chandrapur plant coughed up Rs 19 crore towards demurrage charges to railways for holding up coal rake beyond the free time in the last two years. As per railway rules, the power stations are allowed only 7 hours to unload coal.

Mahagenco´s six new units get coal linkage

After a long wait, state-run power generation company Mahagenco has finally got coal linkage for its new units. The standing linkage committee (SLC) of coal ministry has agreed to grant temporary linkage for a period of two years to six new units of the company having total generation capacity of 3,230 MW.
Maharashtra seeks investments, but industrial power tariff high

Though Maharashtra has been inviting industries in the state to boost investments, it has failed to reduce industrial power tariff. The state still has 25 per cent higher tariff than the neighbouring states of Karnataka, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh.
Mahagenco to source affordable coal for private power plants

The state government has decided to give a helping hand to private power plants by making Mahagenco source coal for them. These plants will sign agreement with the state-run company and sell power to it.
