Green Shoots for BoP
The stagnant state of industrial output has resulted in lower demand for electricity. From the inactive state, when the economy starts picking up, it is expected that there would be a demand surge in the long term.

A Digital Solution to India´s Power Riddle
The Indian power sector is at the cusp of a massive transformation. Rapid urbanisation, the addition of renewables, advent of electric vehicles, consumers becoming generators, the establishment of micro-grids etc., are some of the dynamic factors and forces that are driving the change in the electricity landscape - making it more complex than ever before.

Change norms for clean air
India´s pollution challenges are bigger in comparison to other countries. One, because it is a developing nation and two, because large swathes of the country still aren´t exposed to industrialisation as compared to others. As such, if our energy usage is not changed from what it is now, India is likely to be in the grip of pollution for an extended period of time.

Stranded in Debt
India has come a long way in addressing unmet power demand. Deficit has fallen from 8.7 per cent in 2012-13 to 2.1 per cent in 2015-16. In the last three years, the power sector saw capacity addition of 80 GW, of which 57 GW were coal-fired Thermal Power Plants (TPPs).

Coal India to supply blended fuel for import substitution at thermal plants
Coal India is tweaking its longterm forward e-auction calendar to supply a mix of coal with high-energy and low energy content simultaneously. The two categories, when blended in a 30:70 ratio, can readily substitute the fuel requirements of import-based thermal power plants located in coastal regions.
