Handing a definite victory to the Coal Ministry, the Delhi High Court dismissed pleas by Monnet Ispat & Energy, Jayaswal Neco Industries, Bhushan Power & Steel, and Utkal Coal regarding the coal auction, which were reserved for over a year now
No cartelisation in coal auction bids
A bid evaluation report by the coal ministry has reportedly found no conclusive proof indicating any collusive bidding, nor any complaint received about the e-auction platform obstructing bidders from submission of coal auction bids, a report said.
Ministry sends report on low-bid coal blocks to inter-Ministerial panel
The Coal Ministry has referred the examination report on bids by Jindal Power, Anil Agarwal´s Balco and BS Ispat in the recent coal auctions to an inter-ministerial committee.

Sample this. Coal India, the much-reviled public sector coal behemoth, produced 462 mt of coal last year, with all the much-publicised legacy problems that it faces. The top seven global (private sector) mining giants together produced around 700 mt of coal last year (see Coal output by global players). And all of India´s private players produced a mere 50 mt of coal in 2014.
