Work on JK's first wind power plant to begin in 2017-18 fiscal
The work on Jammu and Kashmir's first wind power project, to be built in Reasi district at an estimated cost of Rs 46 crore, will begin in 2017-18 fiscal, Finance Minister Haseeb Drabu has said. National Institute of Wind Energy (NIWE), an autonomous institute under MNRE, has identified a windy site at Bidda village in Reasi which has a potential to generate 25 MW power.

Govt to fast-track INR 90,000 crore power projects
The Centre has decided to fast-track 10 power projects worth Rs 90,000 crore planned by State-owned companies led by NTPC, which have been held up by land-related issues, identified in the Economic Survey as the biggest hurdle for stalled public sector investments.
Siemens bags Rs 411 cr order from Power Grid Corp
Siemens Limited announced that it has won a crucial turnkey order (design, engineering, commissioning and installation) from Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL) worth approximately Rs. 411 crores. The order is for Static Var Compensators (SVCs) for three of PGCIL’s substations: Ludhiana in Punjab, Kankroli in Rajasthan and New Wangpoh in Jammu & Kashmir.

Alstoms Uri II hydroelectric project
Alstom has successfully commissioned NHPC´s Uri II (4x60 MW) hydropower project situated in Jammu & Kashmir after availability of full water for running all the four units of the project. The synchronisation of the four units was done in phases.
