India to construct 12 more nuclear power plants

CNIITMASH and HEC to establish technical training centre

(HEC) have launched the second stage of implementation of the agreement to establish the Center for General Engineering and Technical Training in India.
Kudankulam NPP Units 5 and 6 entering implementation
Three main contracts for Units 5 and 6 of the Kudankulam nuclear power plant were signed between ASE Group of Companies (a part of ROSATOM State Atomic Energy Corporation) and the NPCIL on July 31, 2017. The contracts are: for supply of the equipment with long manufacturing cycle, for the first priority design works and for supply of the working documentation.
Russia supplied isotopes for Indian lunar exploration mission Chandrayaan-2
Russian company Isotope (part of ROSATOM State Atomic Energy Corporation) supplied Cm-244 alpha-emitter to Physical Research Laboratory (Ahmedabad, India). Radionuclide curium-244 (Cm-244) manufactured by Russian “State Scientific Center - Research Institute of Atomic Reactors” (JSC SSC RIAR) is a pure alpha-emitter that enables sources to determine chemical composition of any rocks and soils.
Nuclear regulator, liability the industry
When talking about Nuclear power, there are two immediate issues that need attention: a) the nuclear regulator and b) the issue of nuclear liability. The Government needs to replace the existing, quasi-independent nuclear regulator with a truly independent one.
