The second meeting of the IMC to formulate a policy on coal rejects from washery will be held on January 29, according to the Coal Ministry. The government is mulling framing a policy on coal rejects amid acute fuel shortage in the country. The committee will assess the actual rejects generated from Coal India washeries and formulate suitable guidelines for supply of rejects on long-term basis from CIL washeries.

Acting upon the directive by the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA), the Union Coal Ministry has set up an inter-ministerial panel to look into coal linkages of power plants - having an aggregate capacity of 16,000 MW- which are at the advanced stages of commissioning.
