Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has won a contract to establish a 120 MW hydroelectric project (HEP) in Uttarakhand. The order, valued at $20.8m, has been placed by Uttarakhand Jal Vidyut Nigam Limited (UJVNL), and includes setting up of hydro generating sets and associated electro-mechanical works for the 120 MW Vyasi HEP. Located in Dehradun district, the Vyasi HEP is a run of the river scheme on the river Yamuna. The project consists of two hydro generating sets of 60MW each with vertical Francis turbines.
