Neyveli Lignite Corporation (NLC), commenced construction work for establishing a 65 MW solar power plant in an area of 325 acres at Neyveli township. This is a part of its long-term goal of setting up of solar power plants with 4,000 MW capacity at various parts of the country. The plant will include 2,30,465 solar PV modules, each generating 305-310 W power. Power generated from the plant will be fed to Tangedco; the sole beneficiary of the solar power plant. Jakson Engineering Limited is the EPC contractor of the project. NLC director (finance) Rakesh Kumar formally inaugurated the project in the presence of director (mines) Subir Das and director (planning and projects) Selva Kumar in a function. The corporation will soon commence work for setting up of another 65 MW solar power plant in the northern side of block 5 and has engaged Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) for the project.
