Bringing much needed relief to Mangalore electricity consumers, the second 600 mw unit of the 1,200 mw Udupi Power Corporation's (UPCL) thermal plant at Nandikoor started generating power on February 7 at 11.11 am. Another power unit of the plant started operating on February 6 at 2.23 am. Both the 600 mw units of the plant was shut down on January 25.

Lanco Infratech puts Udupi plant on sale

To sell a power plant in Karnataka's Udupi, Lanco Infratech has begun talks with JSW Energy and Adani Power as banks pile pressure on debt-laden power companies to sell assets and improve cash flow. Preliminary discussions have taken place between JSW Energy, Lanco and Adani for the sale of the 1,200 MW coal-fired Udupi power plant, sources said. JSW Energy had a few meetings with Lanco officials on Udupi power plant, sources indicated.
