Arunachal Pradesh joins UJALA; entire country now implementing scheme
With the implementation of the GoI’s UJALA programme in Arunachal Pradesh, the world’s largest non-subsidised LED bulb distribution programme is now being implemented across India. The programme is now thus being implemented by EESL, a JV of PSUs under the Ministry of Power, in collaboration with various power discoms in each of the 29 states and seven UTs.
EESL to implement India’s first rural LED street light project in AP
Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL), under the Ministry of Power, will retrofit 10 lakh conventional street lights with LED lights in gram panchayats of seven districts in Andhra Pradesh. This is the first project for rural LED street lighting in the country under the Government of India’s Street Lighting National Project (SLNP).
EESL raises domestic bonds to fund energy efficiency projects in India
Energy Efficiency Services Limited has made its maiden issuance of bonds in the domestic market to fund energy efficiency projects in India. Domestic bonds worth Rs 500 crore were issued to investors on private placement basis at a coupon rate of 8.07 per cent per annum.

While India seeks to be the next super power and the biggest economic player in Asia, this entails large strides towards development, which despite all policies and intentions is not possible without sufficient energy supply.
Tightening the Knuts and Volts
One of the most versatile electrical products with a wide application spectrum ranging across computers, televisions, appliances, automobiles, aircraft, domestic and industrial equipments, power electronics, drivers and UPS, capacitors are not just energy storage devices, but are also used for signal filtering, processing and power conditioning, power factor correction and transient suppression (harmonic filtering).
Powering the capacitors industry
The recent clearance of several power projects worth Rs 1.83 lakh crore by the Indian government is expected to provide a fillip to the capacitor industry in the next couple of years.
