Suzlon wins 75-MW repeat order through MSEDCL bid
Suzlon Group has announced its order win for development of 75-MW wind power project from an independent power producer (IPP) through Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) bid. The company will install around 36 units of S111-140m wind turbine generators (WTGs) with rated capacity of 2.1 MW each.
Suzlon bags 96.6 MW repeat order from ReNew Power
Wind turbine maker Suzlon has said it has bagged a repeat order for 96.60 MW wind energy project from ReNew Power. The company will install 24 units of S97-120m and 22 units of S111-90m wind turbine generator (WTG) in Karnataka.
Transition from FiT to competitive bidding is a progressive change
The wind energy sector has progressed significantly over the past decade. The installed capacity of the country has doubled in the last five years and reached a whopping 32,508 MW which is almost ~56 per cent of our installed renewable energy base.
TPREL commissions 100 MW wind farm in Andhra Pradesh
Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd (TPREL), announced the commissioning of its 100 MW wind farm project in Nimbagallu, Andhra Pradesh. The company had commissioned 36 MW wind capacity of the plant in December 2016, and announced the commissioning of the balance 64 MW. With this, the operating renewable portfolio of TPREL grows to 1,959 MW, comprising 907 MW wind, 932 MW solar, and 120 MW waste heat recovery capacity as of today.
Technology and innovation will continue to be the catalyst
Aligned with the´Make in India´ initiative and the government´s green commitments, we aim to install 20 GW in the next six years. This is more than our installations till date but, is well within reach. We have established a multi-prolonged strategy that covers R&D, manufacturing and design as we endeavour to meet our goals.
The Long Shot
Wind energy has been identified as a potential response to India´s crucial power challenges since the 1990s. The sector has undergone a major shift in India, and even after a good 25 years, we still await the full potential of this renewable source to be realised.
SJVN Limited awards 50 MW Order to Inox Wind
Inox Wind Limited has bagged an order for a 50 MW wind power project from SJVN Limited to be deployed in Gujarat. The project is scheduled to be commissioned by November 2017 and will be executed on turnkey basis. As part of the order, Inox Wind will supply and install 25 units of its advanced 2 MW DFIG 113 rotor dia wind turbine generators for SJVN Limited.
Wings in Motion
Though a free energy resource, wind is much intermittent than solar, with speeds varying within minutes and affecting power generation. In cases of high speeds, there can be overloading of generator. Besides this, wind energy is harnessed through turbines - the setting up of which require research, technical know-how and most importantly land.
