The domestic power sector has notched remarkable advances over the last few years across the entire value chain. With the highest coal production growth in over two decades adding to fuel supply scalability, augmentation of generation capacities, increase in transmission lines and record consumption levels with the distribution of 2.3 crore LED bulbs, India has emerged as the fifth largest producer and consumer of electricity with a capacity of 302 GW.

DEWA sponsors 10th World Future Energy Summit to support sustainability in the UAE
Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) will participate in the World Future Energy Summit (WFES) 2017 in Abu Dhabi, which is part of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week. DEWA is efficiency sponsor of WFES, which is organised by Masdar, Abu Dhabi's multi-faceted renewable energy company, from January 16-19, 2017 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre.
Mitsubishi launches energy storage demonstration project
Mitsubishi Corporation reached a basic agreement with AES Corporation and Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited (TPDDL), which distributes electricity in northern and north-western Delhi, to develop an energy storage demonstration project in India. The project will be concentrated in the grid sectors operated by TPDDL.
MNRE announces financial incentives for DISCOMs to support rooftop solar
In a new policy move, the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has announced financial incentives for discoms to support rooftop solar installations. The notification proposes a financial support of up to Rs 3.75 million per MW for up to 1,350 MW of rooftop solar capacity.
Atha Group’s Renewable Energy Business touches 200 MW milestone
Atha Group’s Renewable Energy Business’ has touched the milestone of 200 MW with the recent commissioning of 20 MW power plant at Madhya Pradesh and 15 MW plant at Nalgonda, Telangana. 20 MW plants in two locations of Rajasthan had been commissioned earlier in 2013 and 2015.
TPREL commissions two projects in AP and TN
Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd (TPREL), announced the commissioning of 36 MW wind capacity of a 100 MW wind farm (under construction) at Nimbagallu in Andhra Pradesh, and 49 MW solar plant at Kayathar, Tamil Nadu, under Welspun Renewable Energy Private Limited (WREPL).
Nagpur to have 27 MW solar power systems under Centre’s project
The standing committee of the Nagpur Municipal Corporation has approved a proposal to appoint city-based BRR Renewable Energy Consultant as project management consultant to install 27 MW of solar systems under the Centre's solar energy and net metering project.
