Coal shortage at Mettur’s 600 MW unit
One of the thermal units at Mettur generating 600 MW has been shut down as the coal scheduled to arrive from West Bengal and Odisha has been delayed due to the floods in the mines. Spot power price hits high of Rs 12.95 a unit
Due to the festive demand and increase in dry weather consumption, the electricity price rose to a record of Rs 12.95 per unit, while its peak hour price soared to Rs 8.78 a unit in spot market.

Gujarat to sign MoU with Colorado

India's FY18 thermal coal imports up 8%
The recent government data showed that India’s thermal coal and coking coal imports rose by 8 per cent and 13 per cent respectively, for the first time in three financial years. The increase in imports will be a boon for international miners like Indonesia's Adaro Energy, Australia's Whitehaven Coal and global commodity merchants such as Glencore.
