Ghat road stretch to get solar streetlights

Around 19 spots on the stretch of Thamarassery ghat road will be installed with solar powered streetlights. The project will be executed by Kerala state Electronics Development Corporation (Keltron), informed Babu Parassery, District Panchayat President.

Centre provides subsidy to states to for solar streetlights

The Union government does not directly provide solar streetlights to the states. However, the Union government is providing a subsidy of 30 per cent of the project cost subject to a maximum of Rs 81 per watt peak for installation of solar streetlights in the General Category States in the country, said the Union Minister of New and Renewable Energy Farooq Abdullah in Lok Sabha recently.
