Essar to surrender Tokisud coal mine, seek Rs 4.9-bn refund
Essar Power has decided to surrender the Tokisud North coal block in Jharkhand. The company has already invested Rs 490 crore in the project. The move which comes in the backdrop of facing delays in key approvals and sudden change in tariff terms, will cripple the company's 1,200-MW Mahan plant in Madhya Pradesh.

A high-level Australian delegation led by Annastacia Palaszczuk, Premier of Queensland, Australia, visited Mundra Port in Kutch and reaffirmed the Queensland government's commitment to Adani's Carmichael Coal Mine Project, a statement issued by the company said here.

Coal India plans to produce petroleum oil in Jharkhand
Coal India is considering producing petroleum oil at its Chatra coal mine in Jharkhand. Petroleum oil from coal is part of the state-run coal behemoth's diversification plan and it will soon invite an expression of interest for it, Coal India chairman Sutirtha Bhattacharya said.

THDCIL and MoC, inked Allotment Agreement
DV Singh, CMD, THDCIL and Vivek Bhardwaj, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Coal, Govt. of India signed the Allotment Agreement for Amelia Coal Mine this month. UC Kannaujia, GM(SP) and Mukul Sharma, Sr. Manager (Thermal Design), THDC NCR Office Kaushambi were also present on the occasion with senior officials of THDCIL and Ministry of Coal.

WCA exhorts India for sustainable use of cleaner coal
The World Coal Association (WCA) has urged India to work towards deployment of cleaner coal. The global industry association for coal has said that in order to support a sustainable development of the resource, the world’s third largest energy consumer, India, will require financial, technological and other support internationally.

SC upholds NTPC's decision to reject Montecarlo coal mine bid
