India's FY18 thermal coal imports up 8%
The recent government data showed that India’s thermal coal and coking coal imports rose by 8 per cent and 13 per cent respectively, for the first time in three financial years. The increase in imports will be a boon for international miners like Indonesia's Adaro Energy, Australia's Whitehaven Coal and global commodity merchants such as Glencore.

Adani group may work on a coal mining project in Queensland
The Adani group hopes to work with the new regime in Australia´s Queensland State and discuss the coal mining project that will create 10,000 jobs and contribute $22 billion to the State´s revenue, the conglomerate stated in the wake of renewed activist enthusiasm after the victory of the Labor party in the province.

Coal import bill continues to rise
India´s coal import bill surged 42 per cent to Rs 11,441 crore in November 2014 despite a 16 per cent increase in Coal India´s production, highlighting the rapidly widening demand-supply gap for the fuel in the country.
